EAT AT SPARK

Spark at Scissortail Park is igniting OKC's favorite public space!

Spark, a concept by The Social Order (you know them from Jones Assembly, Fuzzy's Taco Shop, and more), is located at the north entrance of Oklahoma City's favorite new public space, Scissortail Park. You can't miss it and the rainbows of cheer it emits.

Spark is located at 300 Oklahoma City BLVD Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73104.

Good Vibes Only

Spark is branded out to a tee. As a marketing company, we are in love! There is color and character EVERYWHERE you look. It's not surprising after experiencing the love and care that goes into the Jones Assembly. The aesthetically pleasing venue pairs well with the friendly staff and adorable menu items. You didn't come here to read about how much I adore a place that actually has character and FEELS like you're somewhere else, but it's vital. No more do we see new concepts opening up that replicate the inside of a Pizza Hut in the '90s. We CRAVE a place to satisfy our escapism needs. I'm telling you, Spark is the Disney of restaurants in OKC. It does have a small footprint, so it's easier to curate, but nonetheless, they crushed it.

I also heard from their Director of Operations, Kyle Toland, they are planning on making the environment even more fun and immersive - starting with Spark glassware. Something that I foresee living in my home cabinets as well. On that note, yes, there is Spark merch!

P.S. your dogs are going to LOVE Spark.

But Chris, We Came Here For A Food Review

Okay, enough fanboying over my love for a fully committed themed venue. Let's dive into the grub!

What I Tried

Hottie Spark

A classic-style burger, we're talking that nice soft bun and quality beef patty. Not the hockey pucks you get at the kid's soccer games. Paired with Schwab's Ghost Pepper Cheese Hot Links to kick you right in the mouth. Topped with swiss cheese, spicy truffle aioli, and some Louisiana Hot Sauce. This burger SLAPS! If you like walking on the hot side, here you go. It's also a true honor to have a burger named after me at Spark; thank you all for the recognition. 😉

SHAKA SPARK

Look, I don't want to have the ridiculous debate on whether pineapples belong on pizza or not, but I DO want to TELL you that they absolutely belong on this burger! Another classic-style burger brought to life with spice pineapple, candied jalapenos, and their Hang Loose sauce. 🤙
PINK FRIES

I mean, you know I had to order the pink fries. You KNEW it. These *crispy* crinkle-cut fries are topped in their special pink sauce, parmesan, and parsley. They're the perfect pairing that you can, and should, share!

Pistachio Custard Shake & Vanilla Shake - FLAVOR OF THE MONTH

All of Spark's custards are made fresh daily. I was happy to try two of their shakes and can say they're going to be the perfect item to grab and walk the park with. I'm going to be critical here, but remember, food is an art, and people prefer different things. For example, I love slightly burnt onions on the grill; meanwhile, my mother eats onions raw. So if you stand on the thiccccc shake side, these aren't for you. I would love to try these again with more thickness. ALSO, let me add I did not request the shake to be thicker, so that is totally an option for all I know!

PARK POWER BOWL

Looking for a more sustainable health-conscious item? BAM! That Park Power Bowl with quinoa, sweet potato, avocado hummus, and so much more. This will keep you full and is super convenient in their to-go bowl to find the perfect spot in the park to sit and enjoy.

WHAT I WANT TO TRY NEXT

Peach Club Special - a boozy slushy with a peach ring on top. Gimme. Spark also has several other boozy items for you to enjoy responsibly.

A Real Win for OKC Placemaking

Spark adds to Scissortail Park a staple restaurant with accessible options. They are limited, but they are concise. It's just about the perfect food you could eat in the park. Here's what I'm excited for, though... they have a walk-up window that they'll be slinging shakes, fries, burgers, and booze out of! Something about this just feels nostalgic, without the side-effect of cheap ass food. Spark seems to care about their space and respect their physical location. I am very excited to see them continue to be good stewards of their little slice of my absolute favorite park in Oklahoma. With that, I leave you with their Instagram name that encapsulates what you should do after reading this review, @eatatspark!

Chris Cox

I love trying new things, mostly food. It's hard for me to fathom that people would be so closed minded and unwilling to try exotic foods or experience so I will be their surrogate. I'm a huge gamer, mostly kicking butt on all the consoles but delve into some PC gaming. I also love living in OKC, OK it's a city of passion and it's growing at a rapid rate.
