Nonesuch

Nonesuch - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Oklahoma City’s Most Memorable Place to Eat, Nonesuch.

Nonesuch is visual and edible proof that Oklahoma’s culinary scene isn’t f#@king around anymore. Gone are the days of chain restaurant after chain restaurant, RIP unlimited salad and breadsticks though. I’ve had some amazing food across the world, but I’ve never had an experience like Nonesuch. This 20-seat tasting-menu restaurant in the heart of Midtown Oklahoma City has a culinary and FOH team that’s more jam-packed than the 1990 NBA Eastern Conference All-Stars. Nothing is left to the imagination. The flowers are curated and photo-worthy, the service is so beyond what you’d expect I’m still not even sure how to quantify how amazing it was, and the food is the absolute furthest thing from ordinary. So kick your chain restaurant dinner to the curb* and book an evening at my newest favorite farm-to-table** restaurant in Oklahoma and beyond.

Nonesuch is located at 803 N Hudson Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73102

* I have nothing against chain restaurants ;)

** On the Nonesuch menu, they list every source their food is from, often working directly and with local growers. Isn’t that awesome?

Nonesuch 2.0

Things have changed a bit at Nonesuch, but this isn’t a negative thing - it’s quite the opposite. Nonesuch continues to offer one of the greatest tasting experiences around. Now led by Chef Corey Osburn, Nonesuch has rebuilt an absolute dream team in the front of house (who’s menu knowledge is virtually unlimited, props to that!) and an indescribably fun and creative kitchen crew. From the vibe I was feeling, the team was having an absolute blast - pushing their dishes to the furthest level of the extreme with ingredients of the same caliber. Let me just share with you a few dishes I had, and you can be the judge:

A fistful of dishes:

Here are just a few of the dishes you can enjoy at Nonesuch, they are changing regularly!

  • Thai chili chocolate bomb—chocolate sponge cake soaked in Thai chili syrup. Fermented cacao nib custard, Thai chili chocolate ganache. Surrounded by cardamom-cacao nib crumble.

  • Snap pea with black garlic, corn flower, and micro wasabi on top of kimchi cream cheese.

  • Clarified gazpacho — heirloom tomatoes with garlic, onions, pickled Serrano peppers, and shio koji. Topped with fennel and cilantro oil.

  • Charred leek, spring onion, and garlic crème fraîche underneath purple and orange cauliflower brunoise.

The Nonesuch Experience

When you first arrive at Nonesuch, the door is opened for you and you’re hosted immediately - they’ll even push your chair in for you. Fancy, I know. Next, your culinary adventure begins. You have the option of pairing it with a non-alcohol option with juices and more OR you can go all in and get the wine pairings and I highly recommend you indulge because the wines are heavenly and I can’t truthfully say I’ve ever had a pairing where I actually noticed flavor notes crossing paths or playing upon each other as I did with the Nonesuch parings. As you sit back, dishes start to fly. Each chef brings you your plate and describes the dish and inspiration, then your pairing is matched with each tasting. As you work your way through exotic plates featuring ingredients you’ve never even heard of delivered to you in the style of fine art, eventually you reach the end, for us that was delicious honeycomb dessert.

PRO TIP: ask your chef anything, I have a feeling they’d LOVE to answer your questions!

I love trying new things, mostly food. It's hard for me to fathom that people would be so closed minded and unwilling to try exotic foods or experience so I will be their surrogate. I'm a huge gamer, mostly kicking butt on all the consoles but delve into some PC gaming. I also love living in OKC, OK it's a city of passion and it's growing at a rapid rate.
